My life as a Journey

Saki Ozawa 1712013 October 13 Essay #1   My life is like a journey with many stops, but I enjoy my life. My life started in Taketa city, in Oita. Oita is famous for Onsen, Kabosu and Shochu. When I lived in Oita with my family, I didn’t like my hometown so much, so I decided to go out from my hometown. Then I decided to take an admission examination in another prefecture. But, I had very hard journey when I was a third grade. I wasn’t good at studying, so I wasn’t able to enter my first choice school. I felt like my ship sank. However, my teacher is a very kind person, and he teach me about many universities where I can study English literature, and I was able to enter this university. I think this experiment made me a str ong person, so I think hard things is necessary things in my life.     Now, I can study English literature in PUK, and I enjoy my university life. William and Kate

The sun is coming up over London, and the city is coming alive. There are always lots of visitors in London, but today something is different. On the Mall, some of the visitors are sleeping in chairs near the road, and others are standing and talking. More and more people are walking, driving, and talking trains into the city. Everybody took photos of prince William when he first arrived at the University of St Andrews. Crowds of people came to the little Scottish town to see this new student who is ninetten years old and grandson of the Queen of England. But nobody photographed Kate Middleton on her first day at the university. She moved in quietly, ready to begin her studies in art history. She was just an ordinary student with an ordinary future in front of her. I was able to enjoy reading this book, becaus there are a lot of beautiful pictures of them. A Ghost in Love and Other Plays

The year is 1653. It is a cold, dark winter night and Richard Little, a man of forty, is sitting in his chair. His wife, Mary, comes in. She is making a dress. She has the dress in her hand. Jelly is a nineteen-year-old American, who just wants a good holiday with his friend, Brad. They are travelling round the north of England by bicycle. But strange things begin to happen in the small hotel where they are staying. First, Brad seems to think that he has been there before. And then a girl called Ellen appears... The first of these three original plays is set in the seventeenth century, and the other two take place in modern times. In each play, a ghost comes back from the dead to change the lives of living people. This book is a play, and use a little difficult words. So I had difficulty to read this book. A Little Princess

One cold winter day a little girl and her father arrived in London. Sara Crewe was seven years old, and she had long black hair and green eyes. She sat in the cab next to her father and looked out of the window at the tall houses and the dark sky. Sara had been a happy girl until her father died in India. She became a servant in her school and lived a hard life, but she was always brave like a princess. One day, the man next door found about her, and he was her father's friend. I was very moved. After reading the bok, I thought money's power is very big. However, I believe that money isn't all. I enjoyed my life I don't have a lot of money. I have nice friends, family, and teachers. Red Roses

It's August. Anna is playing her guitar on the balcony of her new apartment. "I like it here." she thinks. Then her phone rings. It's her friend Vicki. "I'm coming now, Anna. It's Grandview Apartments, Charlton, isn't it?" "That's right. See you soon." Anna, a music student, comes across a man with white roses, Will outside her apartment building. They don't talk to each other, but they cannot forget each other. One day, Will's friend asks him to take a friend of his to her apartment. I think it is possible to fall in love at first sight. However I haven't fallen in love at first sight, so I can't imagine the feeling. But this story is very nice. I want to meet a man who I fall in love at first sight. Christine, L. (2008). Red Roses . The Piano

Sir Anthony evans plays liszt. The words above the door of the theatre were a metre high. On the wall there was a big picture of Sir Anthony at the Piano. Hundreds of people were waiting outside the ticket office. It was Sir Anthony's eightieth birthday concert and everybody wanted a ticket . One day, a man find out the beautiful old piano warehouse. Then, he want to play the piano, and play. He was able to play the piano very well. So he becomes practicing the piano. He participated a piano competition. And he won the competition. I have played the piano since I was 4 years old. Of cource, I participated piano competition some times. However, I wasn't able to win first prize. I was very frustrated, but didn't change my mind I love piano. Now I don't have enough time to play the piano, but when I come back my parent's home, I always play the piano till I 'm satisfied. The African Mask

 When Janet came home from work on a hot day in August she picked up the mail. "Bills, bills, bills," she thought. Then she saw a blue envelope. She looked at the postmark. "Who is writing to me from Scotland?" she wondered and she opened the letter and started to read.  We did literature circle twice by this book, so I understand about the story very much. This book has  a little strange things. For example, a man who was a boyfriend of Janet send a mail for her, however, he already passed away. I feel horrible. And also, she dreamed a african mask's dream and the african mask's face looks like her old boyfriend. This book's main things is african mask. I didn't see african masks, so I want to see them.  I read this book for the first time, I wasn't able to understand what happens. However I was able to assent the story after literature circle. Fireball's Heart

It's a quiet evening in the prairie. Chief Strong Buffalo and Chief Wise Owl are sitting round a fire.  "My people are great hunters. They can find fish in the river and animals in the woods and on the prairie. They speak the language of the trees and the flowers. And they know the name of all the stars," says Chief Strong Buffalo. I think that I want to try to experience life like Native American at once.  Now, we are surrounded many electronic things like TV, computers, smartphone and tablets. So we can live more convenient than ever. However, I feel it is not good for us sometimes. Because, if we use these things every day for many years, our body must be tired. The Red-headed League

 Well, when they dissolved the League, that was a sign that the tunnel was ready. They needed to use it soon, before the bank discovered the tunnel or removed the gold. Saturday was better than any other day, because the bank was closed and they had two days for their escape. For all these reasons I expected them to come tonight. You reasoned it out beautifully, I said in admiration.   This book is about Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson. I like british literature, so I was able to enjoy this book very much. And also, this book has a lot of hint each pages. So we can read putting in order waht happened ever.  I felt this book is a little long, so I took longer time as usual, however, the content is very interesting, so I was able to read smoothly. The Surprise

 It's Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs Phillips and their children, Roger and Helen, are playing cards in the living room. Suddenly the telephone rings in the hall. Mr Phillips gets up and answers it. When he comes back he is smiling.   I read this book for the first time, I thought the pictures are very cute and nice! So, I was able to enjoy reading this book.  When I was a student of elementary school, my brother liked dinosaurs very much and he always said "I want to keep my own dinosaurs!!" I thought it was impossible things. Actually, it's impossible, but we can feel like keeping them. I think it is great things to read book. I want to read various book and experience various things. Jack and the Westbourne Fair

Jack's week started badly. "Where's your homework?" asked Mr Fish on Monday morning. Everyone turned to look at Jack. Jack said confidently, "It's on the table at home." The Westbourne Fair is coming to town and it is Jack's favourite moment of the year. But when he gets into trouble at school his parents say that he can't go to the Fair. Jack decides to go to the Fair anyway and he learns that there are more important things in life than having fun I read this book in literature circle. First I read this book, I can't understand this story, but through I talk about the story with my friend, I can understand the story. So, I think it is important to talk the book with someone. I'm moved this story, because Jack is approved by everyone at last. I think Jack is a little naughty boy, but he is not completely bad. So, he helps young boy at amusement park. Zadie's Big Day

  But on the sports field of Westbourne High School, two football teams are running up and down, kicking a heavy wet football. It's an important match - the semi-final of the girls' football championship between Westbourne and New Milton.   I read Zadie's Big Day for literature circle. My role is Summarizer, so I read this book hardly. This book is about Zadie's story. She is very good at sports. Especially, she is good soccer player. She meets with difficulty. But she gets over difficulty.  I moved on after reading end. She won final game and acceptable around her people. I think it is very important things try to many things and don't give up.  Also, I was thought differences of football and soccer. Especially, I feel good is that "soccer" came from that contraction of association "soc" and expressed person "er" are connected. I can learn many things this literature circle class.

The Big Balloon Race

 Balloon Farm was a strange farm. In the yard half-filled ballons sat like giant mushrooms. People came from all over to buy balloons made by Mr. Myers. Ariel watched her father fold Carlotta's balloon, Lucky Star.  Today I read "The Big Balloon Race". I enjoyed reading this book very much. First, I think this book's picture is very cute. There are many colorful baloons's picture, so I can enjoy reading this book. Also I thought it is interesting that there are Balloon Farm. There are a lot of balloons in the farm. It is very interesting configuration. I want to ride on a balloon someday. And travel many places.

Mystery on the Island

A big white car is going very fast. It nearly hits Daniela. "Wow ! That car nearly hit me!" says Daniela. "Yes, I know. Are you okay, Daniela?" asaks John. She says, "Yes, I think so. Why's that car going so fast? Where's it going ?" Today, I read "Mystery on the Island". I was able to enjoy reading this book. Daniela, Davis and John go to the CD shop and buy some CDs. They go back home, and a big white car nearly hits Daniela. They follow the car, and they notice a big man wearing black suits. They talk him, but he is angry. Then they noticed a woman take a boat. They think the big man kidnap her. So, they decided to tell police about it. But the big man is bodygard and the woman is famous pop singer. She wants to make sceclet video. The dog and the bone

  One day, a naughty dog stole a big, juicy bone from the butcher. The dog scampered away across the fields... ... and onto a bridge that crossed a stream. I read "The dog and the bone". I remember I read this story when I was child. This story is a dog's story. One day, a dog stole a big bone from the butcher. And he crossed a stream, then he looked down at the water. He surprised because he looks another dog who has a big bone too. He glowled at the dog and barked the dog. But as he opened his mouth, his bone slipped out. The bone fell into water. Then, he understand the dog is himself. This story's moral is "Be happy with what you have". Watson, C. (2007). Aesop's Fables . London, UK: Usborne.

Hunter in the darkness

  You are a vampire humter. Your master is Sayad bin Khafash, the greatest vampire hunter in the world. He trained you to be strong and quick. He showed you how to hunt vampires, and all the ways to kill them. I was able to read this book because it is very fun. I think it is able to enjoy reading books by choosing scene. We think more than usually because we want to finish the stories in good ending. And this book, I'm a vampire humter. And I want to be strong hunter, so I was teached master. However, one day, master was killed by vampire, Aku. So I decided killed him. I reached a village and we cooperated with villagers. We fighted vampires, but they are too strong to fight. Dtories from the Five Towns

My mother never came to meet me at Bursley station when I arrived in the Five Towns from London. She always had other things to do; she was getting ready for me. So I always walked alone up Trafalgar Road, between the factories and past the football field. Arnold Bennett is famous for his stories about the Five Town and the people who live there. They look and sound just like other people, and, like all of us, sometimes they do some very strange things. There's Sir Jee, who is a rich businessman.  They are not famous or important people. They work in shops and factories; they are clever and successful, and sometimes they do very stupid things. Grace Darking

Daniel Donovan was a passenger on the Forfarshire. He stood on the deck of the ship, and looked at the sea. It was difficult to stand on the desk, because the wind was so strong.  All they could hear was the wind, and the waves crashing on to the rocks. All they could see was the night. They could not see the ship, broken in two. They could not see the people holding on to the dark wet rock, slowly dying of cold. And they could not hear the cries for help- only the wind.  The Forfarshire was wrecked off the north-east coast of England in 1838. Mutiny on the Bounty

It was a cold day in December, 1787. There aes a strong wind and a green sea. Three men and a boy on the deck of the littele ship, HMB Bounty. Behind them, on the land, were some hills and small white houses.  Two handred years ago life on a sailing ship was not easy. You ate hard bread and bad meat. You worked night and day, often cold and wet and hungry. You saw no land for manths and months. There were dangerous storms and many accidents; some ship never came home again.  In 1787 HMS Bounty leaves England and sail halfway round the world to Tahiti in the south seas. The captain of the ship is William Bligh, and his First Officer is Fletcher Christian. The Bounty is not a happy ship. Bligh is a hard man, and his officers and his men do not like him.  Tim, Vicary. White Death

 The woman stood in front of the prison. The prison was a big, dirty building in the biggest town of a hot country. The woman was very hot, and she did not like the noise from all the cers in the road.  Heroin kills. But before it kills, heroin changes people. It changes your friend into your enemy; it changes someone you live into a stranger. Heroin kills the body- but first it kills the heart.  Anna Harland thinks that she knows her daughter, Sarah. The President's Murderer

Over the man's head the night sky was black and cold, and in front of him were the trees. Tall, dark trees... five hundred mertres away.  Felix is a good policeman, and the Chief of Police wants him to find a murderer. A very important murderer- the man who murdered the President. Flix must find the murdere quickly and bring him back- dead or alive. He works day and night, drives up and down the country, and ask a lot of questions.  But some question can be dangerous. The Coldest Place on Earth

On the Terra Nova, Captain Roberr Falcon Scott smiled quietly. It was a very important day for him. He was a strong man, not very tall, in the blue clothes of a captain. In the summer of 1910, a race began. A race to be the first man at the South pole, in Antarctica. Robert Falcon Scott, an Englishman, left London in his ship, the Terra Nova, and began the long journey south. Five days later, another ship also began to travel south. And on this ship was Roald Amundsen, a Norwegian. But Antarctica is the coldest place on earth, and it is a long, hard journey over the ice to the South Pole. Some of the travellers never returned to their homes again. This is the story of Scott and Amundsen, and of one of the most famous and dangerous races in history.

Apollo's Gold

It began with a visit to the doctor. "You need a holiday," the doctor told me. "You need a rest." Liz studied and teaches archaelogy in Athens. She works hard and needs a holiday, so she goes to the beautiful and peaceful island of Sifnos. But the peace does not last long when a mysterious yacht arrives, one of the local men dies, and Liz becomes involved with some very dangerous people.

Henry ⅷ and his six wives

  My name is Catherine Parr. A month ago I was the Queen of England, the wife of King Henry the Eighth. Henry died and we buried him last week in St George's Church, Windsor.   I studied world history in high school, so I decided to read this book. I didn't like world history, but I know his name, so he is one of the famous people in the world. He had had six wives and he killed all of them.
